Lexington, SC 02/05/2025 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the name of the young man who died on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, after crashing his motorcycle on South Lake Drive in the Red Bank / White Knoll community of Lexington County. Fisher said that the crash occurred in the 1700 block of South Lake Drive near the entrance to Walmart and its surrounding businesses and outparcels.
According to Coroner Fisher, Nathan Scott Ash, 20, of Pelion, was traveling eastbound on South Lake Drive toward Edmund in what Lexington County deputies described as a reckless manner. A deputy with the LCSD’s Traffic Division had turned around and was attempting to catch up with Ash when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a Honda SUV in the intersection. The Honda was travelling west toward Lexington at the time that Ash hit it.
Ash was thrown for the motorcycle and struck his head on a hard object. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Lexington County’s Fire Service and EMS responded to the crash and began CPR on the scene before transporting ASH to an area medical center where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
