Lexington, SC 01/26/2025 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has provided the details of a fatal collision that occurred on Charleston Highway on December 27, 2024. According to Coroner Fisher, this was a single-vehicle accident that happened in the 2500 block of Charleston Highway in the Cayce area of Lexington County.
According to Coroner Fisher, Terry Wainwright Mitchell Jr., 48, of West Columbia was travelling southbound on Charleston Highway when he left the right side of the roadway and struck a utility pole. Mitchell, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries he sustained in the crash.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and the City of Cayce Police Department continue to investigate the incident.
