Driver and several students transported to Parkridge Hospital for minor injuries from bus accident on St. Andrews Tuesday afternoon

Irmo, SC 02/20/2024 (Paul Kirby) – The driver and several students that were on a Lexington Richland District Five school bus that was struck in the rear by an SUV has been transported to Parkridge Hospital by EMS to be checked for non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon. The collision occurred on St. Andrews Road in front of Irmo High School.

 


Most of the students who were on the bus were transported to another and taken home following the collision. There were thought to be no injuries at first but as time progressed, the driver began experiencing some neck and back pain and several of the students also started having aches and pains as a result of the wreck.

 

The Irmo Fire District, Lexington County EMS, and law enforcement responded and the road was reopened just before 5:00 p.m.
