Fatal motorcycle crash claims 1 over the weekend near Chapin

Chapin, SC 04/21/2025 (Paul Kirby) – According to Lance Corporal Courtney Glover of the SC Highway Patrol (SCHP), 1 person was killed in a motorcycle collision at the intersection of Long Pine Road and John Kinard Circle on April 18, 2025. This occurred around 10:30 p.m. This is just west of the Town of Chapin.
Glover said that 1 man was riding a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle when it dropped off the side of the pavement, the rider lost control of the bike and struck a tree. Fire and EMS responded but the rider succumbed to his injuries and died on scene.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office responded to assist with the investigation. Saturday, Coroner Margeret Fisher said that the rider who had perished was David Eric Jones, 43, of Chapin. According to Fisher, he was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred. Her office will assist the SCHP in investigating what led to this crash.
