Former Lexington County deputy faces harassment, misconduct charges

Lexington S.C. 04/16/2024 – A former Lexington County deputy turned herself in at the Lexington County Detention Center Monday where State Law Enforcement Division agents arrested her on three charges.

Lorna Shay Elders, 37, is charged with first-degree harassment, misconduct in office and the disclosure of confidential information, according to detention center records.

“When I became aware of Ms. Edlers’ actions, I immediately launched an internal investigation and Elders resigned Feb. 15 from her position as a deputy sheriff while that investigation was ongoing,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Deputies are held to a higher standard and maintaining a high level of trust is a key part of that.”

She was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center Monday morning. Elders has since been released after meeting the conditions of her bond.
