Irmo, SC 02/11/2025 (Paul Kirby) – Fire trucks and personnel from the Irmo Fire District responded to a room and content structure fire Tuesday morning. The actual location of the fire was in the 100 block of Twisted Hill Road in the New Friarsgate area of the district close to H.E. Corley Elementary School.
When firefighters arrived, they found a single-family structure with one room and its contents involved in fire. Additionally, the remainder of the home was being damaged by the smoke from the blaze.

Crews from Irmo, backed up by teams from the City of Columbia Fire Department, quickly pulled handlines and attacked the fire. Together, the combined resources quickly brought the fire under control.
According to a spokesperson from the IFD, there were no injuries as a result of the fire. No smoke alarms went off and all the occupants made it out safely.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
