Irmo, SC 03/06/2025 - The Town of Irmo announces the resignation of Mayor Pro-Tem Erik Sickinger, effective immediately, following his recent arrest and the serious charges brought against him by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).
The Town acknowledges the gravity of these allegations and remains steadfast in its commitment to integrity, accountability, and public trust. This remains an active law enforcement matter and is referring all inquiries regarding the arrest and investigation to SLED.
In accordance with state election laws, the Town of Irmo will officially notify the Election Commission and schedule a special election to fill the vacant council seat. Sickinger’s unexpired term extends until 2027, and a successor will be determined through the electoral process. Despite this challenging moment, the Town of Irmo remains steady in its mission to serve its residents and advance the well-being of the community. We reaffirm our dedication to ethical leadership and transparency, ensuring that the business of the Town continues without disruption.
“While this is a difficult time, Irmo stands strong. We are a resilient community, and we will move forward with integrity, purpose, and a continued focus on the future of our town,” said Town Administrator Courtney Dennis.
