Irmo police chief swears in officer who just graduated basic training

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) – Irmo Police Chief Courtney Dennis had the honor last week of swearing-in a new officer who had been a recruit until recently. Officer Black just graduated the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy’s Basic Law Enforcement Class #723.  Black will continue his career now as a patrolman with the Irmo Police Department.

Even though Black has now graduated and is a certified officer, his training has just begun. From this point forward, he will be assigned to work with Field Training Officer Corporal White on Squad 4 of the Irmo PD’s Patrol Division. From that point forward, he will continue to train, and will gain experience every time he puts on his uniform.

After the small ceremony, Chief Dennis asked that everyone with the community join him and his staff in welcoming Patrolman Black to the Irmo Police Department.
