Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identifies the man killed in Wednesday’s I-20 pileup near the 61 mile-marker

Lexington, SC 03/21/2024 - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has positively identified the man who died in a multi-vehicle accident near the 61-mile marker of I-20 eastbound yesterday. According to the coroner, this collision occurred at 9:45 a.m.

 


Coroner Fisher said that Andre Tyrone Eason, 30, of Augusta, GA was killed when his vehicle became disabled in the roadway after his enclosed trailer came loose from the truck that was towing it. Eason was outside of the vehicle when a vehicle struck the enclosed trailer. Eason was struck by the enclosed trailer while trying to reattach it to the truck with another person who had been with Eason in the truck. He was pronounced dead on scene. Two occupants of other vehicles and the other person who had been with Eason were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

 

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
