Pond Branch, SC 10/15/2024 (Paul Kirby) – Units and personnel from the Lexington County Fire Service (LCFS), Lexington County’s EMS, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, and the SC Highway Patrol are on the scene of an overturned gasoline tanker on I-20 east at the Pond Branch Road exit. This is Exit 44 where the 44 Truck Stop is just across the bridge.
This tanker rolled on its side after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. The LCFS has its Hazardous Material unit on the scene but at this point, they have not said whether the truck is leaking any of its load.
Officials with the SC Highway Patrol and the Fire Service are collaborating at this point, but it does appear as if they have closed the exit ramp. It will certainly affect traffic through the evening commute.
