Lexington County middle school teacher charged with assaulting a student

Lexington, SC 08/31/2022 (Paul Kirby) – A Lexington County middle school teacher has been charged with the assault of a student. According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Brenda Dean Inabinette, 58, has been charged with third-degree assault and battery after an incident that occurred at White Knoll Middle School last week.

According to Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon, “The student in the case reached out to an assistant principal at White Knoll Middle School to share what happened between him and Inabinette last Thursday.” Koon continued by saying, “The student said he accidentally went back to the wrong classroom after a trip to the restroom and that prompted the encounter with Inabinette.”

According to the student, Inabinette grabbed the student’s ID which was around his neck and said, “You make me want to strangle you,” according to the arrest warrant. The assistant principal said the student was, “physically and emotionally shaken,” after the encounter.

Inabinette turned herself in at the headquarters of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday morning where she was booked into the Detention Center.
