Lexington County School District’s to operate on half day schedule Tuesday in preparation for possible winter weather, one also switches to eLearning for Wednesday

Lexington County, SC 01/20/2025 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County school students will be on a half day, early dismissal schedule on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, as many meteorologists predict that winter weather and precipitation will return to our area by early afternoon. This includes Lexington District One, Two, Three, Four, and Lexington-Richland School District Five. Additionally, Lexington County School District Three will switch its Wednesday, January 22, 2025, will be an eLearning day where students will be educated via their district provided electronic devices.


For Lexington School District One, the district that covers Lexington, River Bluff, Gilbert, White Knoll, and Gilbert area schools in the center of Lexington County, the following schedule will apply:


Pre-school half-day classes, both morning and afternoon sessions — Canceled

Elementary Schools (including full-day preschool classes) 11:20 a.m.

Middle Schools

All except GMS — 12:05 p.m.

GMS — 12:15 p.m.

High Schools

LHS, WKHS, and RBHS — 12:45 p.m.

PHS and GHS — 12:25 p.m.


Information for students who travel to other locations on the Half-Day Schedule:

High school students who attend Lexington Technology Center, The College Center or an Advanced Center of Study should follow their Collaborative Planning Day schedule as provided by their school.


Meals: Breakfast and lunch are served on half-days.


After-school activities:


After-school childcare is canceled on January 21.

All after-school activities will be canceled on January 21.


*A decision regarding January 22, 2025, will be on Tuesday January 21, 2025.


For Lexington County School District Two, the district that educates the students of the Cayce and West Columbia areas:


All elementary schools will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

All middle schools will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.

All high schools will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. also

All after-school activities/programs:

Canceled, including athletic events and practices, extracurricular activities, after-school programs, Boys and Girls Clubs, and adult education classes. Coaches and schools will reach out directly to families and athletes regarding the status of any previously scheduled Tuesday events.

Lexington County School District Three, the district that educates students from the Batesburg/Leesville areas of Lexington County:


B-L Primary School will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m.

B-L Elementary School will be dismissed at 10:45 a.m.

B-L Middle School will be dismissed at 11:15 a.m.

B-L High School will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.


After-School Events:


All after-school events including sports practices, meetings, games, adult education classes, etc. scheduled for Tuesday, January 21st and Wednesday, January 22nd are canceled.


Meals:


Lexington Three’s Food Services Department will send home a bagged lunch for students on Tuesday, January 21st as well as meals for Wednesday, January 22nd. Please check your child’s backpack for these so they do not spoil.


Lexington County School District Four, the district that educates students from the Gaston and Swansea areas of Lexington County:


Early Childhood Center will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m.

Sandhills Primary/Elementary will be dismissed at 11:20 a.m.

Frances Mack Intermediate will be dismissed at 12:20 p.m.

Sandhills Middle School will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.

Swansea High Freshman Academy will be dismissed at12:15 p.m.

Swansea High will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.


Meals:

Breakfast and lunch will be served.

Afterschool activities, daycare, and athletics: Canceled for tomorrow.


*No decision has been made on school for January 22, 2025


Lexington-Richland District Five that educates the students of the Irmo and Chapin areas of Lexington and Richland Counties:


All elementary schools will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m.

All intermediate schools will be dismissed at 10:40 a.m.

All middle schools will be dismissed at 11:35 a.m.

The Academy for success will dismiss at 11:20 a.m.

Springhill High School will be dismissed at 11:40 a.m.

All other high schools will be dismissed at 11:50 a.m.

All afterschool activities, clubs, trips, and meetings are cancelled.

*A decision regarding school on Wednesday will be made Tuesday.


All school districts are urging parents whose students ride districts busses to make provisions for their students to wait for the bus in a running car with the heat on. This is being done because of the predicted dangerously frigid temperatures that we will receive over the next 24 hours.
