West Columbia, SC 10/22/2024 - A Lexington Two school bus transporting 36 students Tuesday from Wood Elementary on its afternoon route was involved in an accident, with a car hitting the side of the bus.
School and district administrators responded immediately to the scene along with Lexington County Fire and EMS, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Families of the student riders were notified.
Medical personnel screened the bus driver and all riders. Six students were transported for further medical evaluation. Those who were medically cleared at the scene were picked up by car to complete the ride home.
The accident occurred on US 321 near Woodcote Drive.
