Lexington, SC 07/22/2024 - Luis Palma-Salazar, a 24-year-old Lexington man, pled guilty to Trafficking Methamphetamine on June 19, 2024. Circuit Judge Debra McCaslin presided over the plea and sentenced Palma-Salazar to 15 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Under South Carolina law, Trafficking Methamphetamine is classified as a violent, serious, and “no parole” offense.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant Solicitor Player Long and investigated by the Lexington County Sheriff's Department along with agents with the Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET team).
On May 25, 2023, during a traffic stop, law enforcement located a quantity of fentanyl and methamphetamine inside of Palma-Salazar’s vehicle, as well as a large amount of U.S. Currency and a ledger. As a result of the traffic stop, deputies were able to secure a search warrant for Palma-Salazar’s motel room. Ultimately, law enforcement discovered approximately 111 grams of methamphetamine and over 233 grams of fentanyl and $3,843 in cash.
Palma-Salazar had no prior record. He was transported to the South Carolina Department of Corrections to begin serving his sentence.
