Lexington Police Chief Terrance Green releases details of events that led up to deputies arrest

Lexington, SC 09/16/2024 - Police Chief Terrance Green has released more information regarding the chain of events that led up to the arrest of a Lexington County deputy they arrested over the weekend on the charge of Third-Degree Domestic Violence.

Chief Green said that officers were dispatched to a residence on the 400 block of Ivy Green Lane at approximately 10:45 p.m. for a physical domestic incident.  When officers arrived, they met with a victim who stated that during an argument, she was tackled in the hallway of their home by Charles Freeman II, who was trying to take his mobile phone from her.  During the struggle, the victim sustained a cut to her right arm but declined medical attention by EMS.  Officers spoke with two witnesses who stated they heard the argument and the noise of someone falling to the ground.


During the investigation, it was found that Charles Freeman II is a deputy with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. According to Sheriff Jay Koon, Freeman has been placed on leave pending their own investigation.
