Lexington police officers are investigating a fatal collision in the 5100 block of Sunset Boulevard Tuesday

Lexington, SC 04/01/2025 (Paul Kirby) – Officers with the Lexington Police Department are investigating a fatal collision that happened in the 5100 block of Sunset Boulevard Tuesday before noon. This is close to the shopping center that is anchored by Target and Best Buy.

Police say that the crash closed several lanes of traffic, and they used cones to route travelers around the collision and the emergency vehicles. Motorists were asked to use extreme caution if they had to travel Sunset Boulevard and take an alternate route if at all possible. They have said they will not release any further information regarding the crash until they have completed their investigation. All lanes of Sunset Boulevard were reopened by 1:00 p.m.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has not released the name of the victim who died pending notification of their next of kin.
