Lexington, SC 07/09/2024 - Fellowship Baptist Church has received $2,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable
Foundation to help nourish neighbors experiencing hunger. The Feeding the Hungry grant supports
community feeding partners by helping neighbors increase their access to nutritious food and providing
nutrition education to eliminate health risks for those experiencing food insecurity.
Fellowship Baptist Church started the Feeding the Soul ministry in November 2021 as a way to lovingly
serve its neighbors as demonstrated by the Lord Jesus Christ by offering prayer and a meal to those in
need. Volunteers now prepare 150 meals monthly for neighbors in need. Fresh produce boxes
purchased from FoodShare SC are distributed free of charge each month on a first come, first serve
basis. The church also added a large Blessing Box filled with nonperishable food and other items to its
property that is accessible to the community at all times. The grant from Food Lion Feeds Charitable
Foundation will help ensure that the Feeding the Soul Ministry can continue to serve its neighbors
experiencing food insecurity.
The Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation is committed to supporting families facing food insecurity
across its 10-state footprint. Established in 2001, the foundation provides financial support for programs
and organizations dedicated to feeding local neighbors in the communities it serves. Since its inception,
the foundation has awarded more than $18.9 million in grants.
