Lexington, SC 05/09/2022 – The Lexington Town and Country City Council of Beta Sigma Phi recently awarded their Annual Educational Scholarship to Katherine A. Moreno. Moreno is the niece of Anne M. Black (Preceptor Alpha Theta Chapter) of Columbia, SC and granddaughter of Mary A. Arthur (Beta Sigma Phi – Member at Large) of Elkview, WV. She resides in Greenville, South Carolina with her mother, Laura Moreno.
Katherine is a graduating senior at Greenville Technical Charter High School. She is dually enrolled at Greenville Technical College and will graduate with two Associate Degrees in Arts and Science. She plays on her high school’s varsity volleyball team and is a member of the National Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa. When not studying, she gives back to her community through several non-profits like Leap of Faith Ministries, Greenville’s Hispanic Alliance, and Emily’s Closet. She also tutors students in math and English.
Currently, she is ranked 1st in her high school class and will graduate in May with a 5.4 GPA. She will attend Vanderbilt University in the fall aspiring to be a psychiatrist.
