Mobile home destroyed by fire on Neely Wingard Road Wednesday afternoon

Boiling Springs / Fairview, SC 09/21/2022 (Paul Kirby) – A mobile home was destroyed by fire in the 1200 block of Neely Wingard Road near Isiah Hallman Road Wednesday afternoon. This is located between the Boiling Springs and Fairview Crossroads areas of Lexington County.

The calls regarding the fire came in shortly before 1:30 p.m. When the first resources arrived from the Lexington County Fire Service, the crew reported that the home was 65% involved in fire. The incident commander ordered the teams to go defensive only as the structure was much too far gone to risk putting crews inside.

Because there are no fire hydrants in that area, tanker trucks were used to carry water from another location. The large amount of emergency vehicles on the scene forced firefighters to ask the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department for assistance with traffic control. Lexington County EMS also had equipment and personnel on scene to assist the firefighters who were working in the mid-day heat. The local utility company was notified so they could respond to disconnect the power to the home.

Once the fire was completely extinguished, the incident commander requested that the Sheriff’s Department have someone respond to what he called a suspicious fire. No injuries were reported. The structure was a total loss.
