Oak Grove, SC (Paul Kirby) - A new Murphy's Express convenience store and gas station is being built at the corner of Augusta Road and Oak Drive in the Oak Grove community of Lexington County. This is an outparcel of the Barnyard Flea Market in an area that has shown some steady growth over the past few decades.
According to Lexington County building officials, the property is being developed by Kirk & Wood Civil Engineers out of Duluth, Georgia. We were unable to reach them for a comment Monday afternoon or ask when the station will be completed and opened.
Murphy’s Express gas stations and convenience stores were at first located only at the site of Wal-Mart stores. The first ones in Lexington County were built as an outparcels of those super-centers. Later, the stand-alone versions were launched that can often be miles from a Wal-Mart. These are usually much larger than the first ones built, and they have a greater selection and offering of convenience items.
