Pine Grove, SC 05/23/2022 (Paul Kirby) – A single vehicle collision claimed the life of one person in the Pine Grove area of Lexington County Sunday afternoon. According to Master Trooper David Jones of the S.C. Highway Patrol, the collision happened about 2:20 p.m. on Old Barnwell Road near its intersection with White Knoll Way.
According to Jones, a 2008 Cadillac was travelling west on Old Barnwell Road toward Red Bank when the driver dropped off the right side of the road, lost control, overturned, and landed in a creek. The single occupant died at the scene as a result of the crash.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has not yet released the identity of the decedent. Her office normally does that after all the proper notifications are made. This collision is still under investigation by the SCHP.
