Swansea, SC – 04/21/2021 (Paul Kirby) – One person was seriously hurt in an overturned vehicle collision that happened around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. This occurred in the 1700 block of Savannah Hwy. near J.K. Rucker Road between the towns of North and Swansea.
It was originally reported that one of the vehicle’s occupants had been ejected and one was trapped in the wreckage. When first responders arrived, they found no one entrapped.
The person that was seriously injured was treated by Lexington County paramedics, EMTs, and firefighters on scene before being transported to a helicopter landing zone for flight to Prisma’s Palmetto Richland Campus and the Trauma Center. The person that SC state troopers believe was driving was injured as well but reportedly fled the scene before first responders arrived.
Savannah Hwy. (Hwy. 321 S) was blocked by the vehicle that was overturned for a short while. State troopers also rushed to the scene to assist as they could and start their accident investigation. They had their dispatch checking area hospitals and urgent cares late yesterday afternoon for anyone that might come in seeking medical care that would have injuries consistent with a violent rollover of this nature.
The status of the injured person is not available because of health care privacy laws.
