Pelion, SC 02/10/2025 (Paul Kirby) – Chief Chris Garner of the Pelion Police Department announced last week that the department had hired a new SRO to serve the students, staff, and visitors of the Forts Pond Elementary School. Garner said that Jessica Parker was filling that position immediately. Garner said during a recent interview, “I am pleased to have Jessica on board at the Pelion Police Department.”
Parker has invaluable experience having worked at the Barnwell County Sheriff’s Department first as a detention correctional officer, a member of the department’s uniform patrol division, and most recently as a criminal investigator working on many felony crimes such as homicides and armed robberies. “When I met with Jessica, she welcomed the challenge of becoming an SRO with her focus on the children, staff and community,” Garner continued. “I am proud to have her under my command.”
According to Chief Garner, Parker is a certified instructor at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy in Specific Skills and the use of a Taser. “She is also fired Expert with her service weapons on the shooting range.”
While off-duty, Parker enjoys outdoor activities, animals, and spending time with her family and friends.
