SC Attorney General Wilson announces that Lexington County man sentenced to 40 years in prison for child sex crimes

Columbia, SC 03/25/2025 - South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that on March 24, 2025, Daniel Wayne Robert Miller, 41, pleaded guilty in Lexington County to one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, First Degree, and one count of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, First Degree.

On April 8, 2021, Investigator Cameron Sherban with the Lexington County Sheriff’s office received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children advising that files of child sexual abuse material had been uploaded to an online account associated with Daniel Miller, a resident of Lexington County. A search warrant was served on the electronic service provider, and law enforcement discovered numerous videos and images of child sexual abuse material, including multiple videos of Miller sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl in December of 2020, and January and February of 2021.

With the help of Investigators from the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, Miller was ultimately located in Lexington County on June 3rd, 2021. When interviewed, he confessed to sexually assaulting the young girl between 15 and 20 times over a two-year period at his home in Lexington County.

A forensic examination of digital and computer-related items seized from Miller was performed by Forensic Examiner Jamie Johnson with the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office. Johnson’s examination located the sexual abuse videos of Miller assaulting the girl, as well as screen-recorded conversations from online chat sites where Miller recorded himself offering to share videos of the sexual assaults of the 8-year-old victim.

Judge Debra McCaslin sentenced Miller to 30 years at the South Carolina Department of Corrections on the Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor charge, to be followed by 10 years in prison on the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor charge, for a sentence of 40 years. He was given credit for the 1,390 days he’s already been in jail, will have to register as a sex offender, and will be subject to mandatory GPS monitoring for life.

Attorney General Wilson offered a special thanks to all the work law enforcement officers with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office did on this case, as well as the help Investigators with the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children unit provided to help find Miller. It was a joint effort that involved multiple agencies attempting to track him down at multiple locations in Lexington County.
