Lexington, SC 02/06/2025 - On January 19, 2025, an employee with Dominion Energy called in to report that they had discovered what they believed to be human skeletal remains in the wooded area off of Charleston Highway in the Cayce area of Lexington County. The Cayce Police Department was first to arrive on scene and subsequently called the Lexington County Coroner’s Office to respond.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the remains found were human. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office responded back out to the scene on January 20, 2025 to complete the recovery with a certified Anthropologist. The remains have been positively identified as Wayne Alan Marcolini, 62, of West Columbia. Marcolini was reported missing to the West Columbia Police Department in January of 2023. The cause and manner of death is currently pending investigation.
