Structure heavily damaged by fire in Charwood area of Pine Ridge early Tuesday morning

Pine Ridge, SC 07/04/2023 (Paul Kirby) – A single-family home in the 100 block of Cedarlane Parkway was severely damaged by fire early Tuesday morning. The fire, first reported at approximately 2:15 a.m., was in an older, well-established subdivision called Charwood off Bachman Road in the Pine Ridge area of Lexington County.

First due firefighters from Lexington County’s South Congaree Fire Station and the Foster Brother’s Fire Station off Charleston Highway were confronted by heavy smoke and fire when they arrived. They pulled a handline and sent one team inside the structure to begin fighting the fire while a second began a primary search of the home. Eventually another line was pulled, and that team also went on fire attack. It took the efforts of the combined crews more than an hour to bring the fire under control. They spent additional time on scene ensuring the fire was completely out.

Well after 3:00 a.m., a fire marshal responded to the scene to help determine the cause of the blaze. Lexington County hasn’t publicly released their determination. The home was left uninhabitable by the fire. No one has said how many people were displaced by the blaze.
