Lexington, SC 12/12/2024 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the teenager who died in a two-vehicle accident in the 4400 block of St. Andrews Road in the Irmo area of Lexington County at approximately 8:45 P.M. on Monday, December 9, 2024. According to Coroner Fisher, Brittany Rosalinda Valencia, 16, of Columbia died at the scene as a result of the injuries she obtained in the crash.
According to Fisher, Valencia was the passenger in a vehicle traveling eastbound on St. Andrews Road. The driver of one of the vehicles involved lost control and struck a car coming from the opposite direction. Fisher said that Valencia was wearing her seatbelt but died at the scene from her injuries. The driver of the vehicle she was in was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle involved was also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries too.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
