"The Shot Heard Round The World," to commemorate 250th anniversary celebration of the American Revolution

Lexington, SC 03/27/2025 - Commemorate a defining moment in American history at “The Shot Heard Round The World,” a special 250th anniversary celebration of the American Revolution, taking place on April 19, 2025, from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Lexington’s Old Mill Pond Trail. Learn about the battle that changed the course of history and became Lexington’s namesake.


The event will feature:


  • Living history exhibits that transport you to the colonial era

  • Lantern tours for an immersive historical experience featuring actors from the Soda City Theatre Company

  • Cannon demonstrations that echo the sounds of the revolution

  • Hands-on history activities presented by the Cayce Historical Museum and the Lexington County Museum

  • A spirited tribute—at 7:30 p.m., attendees will raise a shot of locally crafted cinnamon whiskey from Hollow Creek Distillery in tribute to the “Shot Heard Round the World.” A non-alcoholic option will be available as well.

Created by the Lexington County Council in 2023 and operating under the SC250 umbrella, this county-wide committee is dedicated to commemorating, preserving, and promoting Lexington County’s role in the American Revolution—ensuring these stories inspire generations to come.
