Uncharacteristically cold weather causes Radius White Knoll to open a warming center in Red Bank area; donated supplies needed

Red Bank, SC 01/07/2025 (Paul Kirby) – As forecasters predict uncharacteristically cold weather will continue settling across Lexington County for the remainder of the second week of January 2025, Radius Church White Knoll has offered their facility as a warming center for the economically challenged and the large homeless population that live in proximity to that church. The center will be open overnight from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. through January 10, 2025. It will be supervised by members of the church with law enforcement checking in regularly to assist in maintaining order.

While the warming center is open, the church has asked the caring community to donate basic needs that will help make the center more comfortable and assist in keeping the facility clean. The list of requested items includes:

1. Snacks

2. Coffee

3. Coffee filters

4. Clorox wipes

5. Lysol spray

6. Laundry soap and laundry sanitizer

7. Bleach spray

If you can help by donating these items, you can drop them off at the church which is located at 5181 Platt Springs Road, Lexington, SC. There is a bin outside the entrance to the gym that you can drop your donated items in.

If you are in a situation where you have inadequate or no heat where you live, simply present yourself at the church each evening through Friday and members will help you get comfortable for the night.
