West Columbia PD is asking the public for any tips they have regarding a death investigation

West Columbia, SC 11/14/2022 (Paul Kirby) - The West Columbia Police Department responded to a reported death at 1035 Comanche Trail in the City of West Columbia Monday afternoon. According to police, they responded at 1:39 PM, November 14, 2022. Since that time, they have officially classified this as a death investigation.

Law enforcement agencies often classify their work immediately after the location of a deceased person as a death investigation. This is done especially if the immediate cause of the discovered individual’s death is not 100% clear. While West Columbia’s Police Department investigators are already working hard on the case, partner agencies like the Lexington County Coroner’s Office are working alongside them to determine the cause and manner of the individual’s death. Once that official determination is complete, it will help the WCPD classify the death and establish a clearer direction for their investigation.

What they need now is the public’s help. Anyone who may have heard or seen anything over the last few days on Camanche Trail that could help them in the investigation is asked to contact the West Columbia Police Department at 803-794-0721. If you have a tip you’d like to submit anonymously, you can do that through CrimeStoppers of the Midlands at CrimeSC.com or using the P3 tips app which is available for free in all app stores.
